Embossing in Metal & Paper

Employing simple tools and basic techniques, we will explore the endless possibilities of the embossed image in both metal and paper. Students can expect to leave this workshop with small works of art for the wall or personalized notecards.

Robin Cust is a studio jeweler who arrived on Deer Isle in 1991 to serve an apprenticeship with Ronald Hayes Pearson, recipient of the 1996 Gold Medal Award from the American Craft Council. This apprenticeship continued until Pearson's death in August of 1996. Prior to moving to Deer Isle, ME, she received a BS in Industrial Technology from Appalachian State University in 1985 and continued studies in metalsmithing at Arrowmont School in Tennessee, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. Cust’s work has been accepted into The Smithsonian Craft Show, Philadelphia Museum Show, Washington Craft Show, and American Craft Council Shows. She has been featured in several Lark Crafts publications, including 21st Century Jewelry - The Best of the 500 Series, Ornament Magazine, and Metalsmith Magazine. Cust was also Maine's 2014 recipient of the Maine Arts Commission Individual Fellowship Grant Award.
