Summer Love, 2022. Furnace Glass, 14“ x 8.”
Have you ever wanted the chance to work with molten glass? Then this is the workshop for you! We will cover basic glassmaking skills with fun exercises to become familiar with the material with basic steps and build strong fundamental skills through hands-on instruction. Students can expect a straightforward knowledge of solid sculpting, drinking vessels, and many other basic glass techniques. All levels welcome.
Christa Westbrook (she/her) first discovered the arts of glassmaking in high school. Mesmerized by the molten glow, Westbrook decided to further her education by receiving a BFA in Glass at Emporia State University. After many years of working at The Corning Museum of Glass, she started her own research with many color techniques, such as cane manipulation and pattern building. Now located in Granbury, TX, Westbrook is currently working as an independent artist and traveling across the world to teach the art of glassmaking.
