COMMUNITY PROGRAMS | FAB LAB

Creative Makers Collaborative

Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Pioneer Prize are partnering to develop and implement a new after-school program for Blue Hill Peninsula and Deer Isle high school students. The goal of this program will be to cultivate an innovative ecosystem in which local youth develop the skills and interest to create technological projects. The program will focus on developing hands-on projects within various STEM topics. Students will each focus on developing their own projects but will also get to collaborate with peers and learn in a creative environment. This program will expose students to a range of exciting areas of technology through hands-on experience with support and mentorship.

For questions and more information, please contact James Rutter at fablab@haystack-mtn.org.

Projects

Students are encouraged to develop their own project ideas. However, Haystack is also working with community partners to identify real-world projects to benefit the local community. Below are some possible projects that students could work on during this program:

  • Interactive Nature Trail Signs

  • Outdoor LED Sculptures

  • Sound & Beat Machines

  • Environmental Sensors & Instruments
